Role: Creative/art direction, graphic design, product design collaboration.
The top-of-range swim suit for non-wetsuit racing. The Killa name comes from the term ‘killer whale’ or Orca - the apex predator of the ocean.
My role was to design the overall look and graphic elements while adhering to the brand aesthetic guidelines and the brand proposition of - Further Faster. The graphic style is minimal and technical. The graphic elements are designed for maximum visibility during race conditions for spectators and media coverage.
The phrase for the technical style of Orca is ‘Techno Organic’. A phrase that allows organic forms to be mixed with rigid tech geometry. In the case of the Killa, the bone-like forms are mixed with the RS1 Killa logo and still work visually.
The physical design was a collaborative process with the Orca product design team. The garment material is a fast fabric with hydrophobic properties.
