The Orca Compression range packaging used technical graphics to communicate gender designation, function and benefit.
Unlike 2XU who would product a box for every style and colour, Orca used generic boxes with stickers that enabled the packaging to achieve minimum print runs with the factory. This method managed the risk of poor sales and enabled the brand to test the market without significant investment into packaging.
The design uses solid colours as a substrate for the product call outs to achieve visual differentiation in cluttered retail spaces.
The slide out box protects the packaging from damage and enables the consumer to investigate the product without breaking the box.
The use of wire frame imagery apart from being a striking visual, was actually a way of meeting retailer and consumer demand before the product was made and photographed.
